Cyprus Through the Ages
From Limassol, we board 4x4 Land Rover Defenders and head out to explore the island’s rich history with a few scenic stops along the way.
Our first stop is the Castle of Kolossi, a fortification in the outskirts of Limassol where the Grand Commanderie of Medieval Knights was based during the middle-ages. Commandaria, one of the worlds oldest wines gets its name from it.
We move on to Kourion, one of Cyprus’ ancient city kingdoms. Its roman mosaics are well preserved and its beautiful amphitheatre overlooking the Mediterranean is a great photo stop for our guests.
Heading northwards towards the Troodos mountain range, we take a detour off-road to enjoy the scenery and have a quick stop at Tzelefos bridge before our visit to one of the area’s best wineries. There, we have a chance to enjoy the local wines and learn about Cyprus’ long history in winemaking.
Before lunch at a local tavern, we explore the picturesque village of Omodos with its buzzling village square, the Monastery of the Holly Cross and its narrow streets lined with local shops.
